This is the place for readers of poetry. Discuss poetry and literary art. You can also discuss music here, including lyrics. Also, you can discuss poets themselves, in addition to poetry.

The music of today has become better. Pop music seems to be reflective of the time period. Todays pop music has a sweet and softer tone to it.
Then this music is often downloaded or played several hundred times of social media sites such as tik-tok. I have found great songs just by looking up some songs that were played on some ones tik tok. Also there are numerous players on tik tok that replay or cover various artists. They music they play is often softer when played on an acoustic or electric guitar. Certain bands will cover songs as well. This gives value to todays music. Value represents music becoming better. There are a few social media sites that follow this pattern.

I think it's worse, which is not a good word here. I like old songs or music, I think they have a stronger message and deeper lyrics.

I think it depends on what genre and the artists you are listening to. I myself had been listening to one genre for 3 years and I could feel that the music was getting bad, the music was starting to sound the same and nothing could differenaite the artists. But in this genre the old music is good and I listen to a lot more than the recent. Not to say that there are no good songs and artists in the now but the number of good songs and artists has decreased a LOT.

Music is getting worse these days. About the best types of music besides religious and gospel would be parodies.

I would go as far as saying music is just the same. It's us, the consumers, that are changing for the better. Once upon a time, people were okay with listening to music that is outrightly misogynistic. These days, most of that is frowned upon, making us the listeners better. Which ultimately changes the artists as well I suppose. So in my honest opinion, music is getting better in some ways but remains the same in many other ways

The context used in the music makes it definitely worse than before, even though I might be a bit old school.

I think it's easier for people to spread their music nowadays because of the internet, as so we as a society have more opportunities to hear subpar music as opposed to the past where music distribution wasn't as easy to achieve. That and, y'know, the decrease in general attention-spans means things like music are in higher demand to be churned out faster, and so companies pump out music that can be consumed and discarded quickly to keep ahead of the market. Consumerism, you know?

If you keep up with the indie and underground scene, though, you'll know outstanding music is still being produced all over the place. Cosmo Sheldrake, Ren, Chinchilla, the Toxhards, Yaelokre, Sail North, the Longest Johns --- I could go on.

I think music is very generational and we will always feel like the music from our teens- early 20 is the “best” music and everything else after goes down hill.

I think it’s easier to look at old music and feel it’s better because were finding the best 100 songs from a decade where we’re currently in our decade and are apart of the “making it the most popular” process

It's subjective. I like some music from now, some music from earlier decades. It depends on what you like and who you resonate with artistically. I listen to more music from 2000-present, but there's plenty of songs from before then that I enjoy as well.
