Re: Particular Bible verses to help you?
Yes I encounter some bible verses that help get me through tough times. Like 1 Corinthians 10:13.hlemeric wrote: ↑01 May 2020, 01:13 I liked how the book provided specific Bible verses to help with whatever crisis/issue was being discussed at the beginning of each chapter. Have any of you found a verse that has helped you during a crisis, or possibly found inspiration from the verses provided to use in your life?

This verse comes in very handy when one needs encouragement in tough or scary situations.mirandahill wrote: ↑23 May 2020, 12:19 I've always been encouraged by the Bible verse 2 Timothy 1:7 "For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control."

I love Psalm 91. I always recite it.B Creech wrote: ↑01 May 2020, 16:14 I like all of the verses the author used in the book. I have found a scripture that helped me through a crisis, Psalm 91. I used to fear everything, but especially being alone at night. I knew I had to conquer that fear because I WAS alone every night since my spouse traveled! One night I was praying to ask God to give me something to help me with my fear and I turned my Bible to Psalm 91 and claimed it and have not been afraid since. That was over 30 years ago! I thought the stories were all great and the Bible verses fit so well with what was being conveyed in the book.

It was the best part of the book for me too. The verses were pretty specific and that had an unbelievable impact on me.

That's amazing! I seek comfort with psalm 91 as well. I love how this book dealt with the Bible verses.B Creech wrote: ↑01 May 2020, 16:14 I like all of the verses the author used in the book. That's what I love, I could be doing some work and if I need to help to push through, all I have to say is "Lord, please give me the strength to do this." I don't feel the need to go on and on, I can just freely talk to Him.Amanda Newton wrote: ↑22 May 2020, 23:51Same, I don't enjoy long and lengthy and wordy prayers. You don't have to make yourself seem better than you are. God knows who you are, you can talk to him just as you are.Twylla wrote: ↑06 May 2020, 12:35 I have always appreciated that Jesus didn't waste time praying elaborate prayers. He saw the need and solved the problem. An example is when he prayed for Lazarus to come out of the grave. He said, "Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this on account of the people standing around, that they may believe that you sent me." When he had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out." The man who had died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth.
It comforts me to know that I can talk to God the way I would talk to a friend and he will meet me where I am.

Exactly! It reminds me that there's no point in me stressing and worrying about the problems in my life because He has an amazing plan for my life. I just need to trust in him and his plan for my life.sirbobthewise wrote: ↑20 May 2020, 07:02Amen! Philippians 4 has such wealth to it. I love Philippians 4:6-7: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (ESV). When I reflect on these verses, it always fills me with such joy that we have such a loving and kind God who is willing and wanting to hear everything that is on our hearts and on our minds. There's definitely no one else in my life who would want to know EVERYTHING, that's for sure! This is very beautiful and oh so powerful.Kansas City Teacher wrote: ↑21 May 2020, 15:39 I liked "You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day....) Psalm 91. I heard this in a song once, and many of the others in songs as well.
Sometimes it really feels like there lots of arrows...
