Yes! In this context sexual encounters are necessary to attract the attention of readers who love book incorporated with sexual content!

Why not? While I can't imagine sex between tired people, I think it is a stress-reliever. Given that the book is adventurous, and bound to be stressful, sex can be therapeutic.

I would think this depiction is a play on human nature. Sometimes regardless of the environment, situation or task at hand, people just can't control themselves 🤷

I personally don't think it was necessary, but it might actually be the reason why someone would want to read the book.

It is in the human behaviour to have sexual desires and I think the author depicted the true human nature. In tot, I don't think it's for only readers who are fond of it.

I think the sex included in the book was just to erase out the tension from the protagonist as well as the readers mind. However, it could have been left out, but it's inclusion also didn't seem irrelevant.

Sex isn’t necessary in fiction, although there are some stories wherein sexual scenes may add strength to a character or a plot. But it isn’t really necessary because we have to consider all kinds of readers.

I don't want to rule out on the necessity of sex in the book. After all, it is a science fiction. Anything can happen. I guess the author has his reasons why he included sex scenes in the book. However, that makes it exclusively for adults.
Happy reading,
Gelli xoxo

While it might not have been necessary part for the plot, I don't see why the inclusion of sexual activities should be such a huge problem because no matter how busy people are, they do find time for sex. It'd be very possible in real life so why shouldn't it be in fiction? I do understand that readers have preferences, but if every reader's preferences dictate what activities should be in a book, then there'd probably never be books. This is something I believe we should keep in mind.

I agree that sex scenes is not necessarily important for books to include. But, the including of sex scenes in this book was not out of the context of this book

I definitely think that it depends on the situation. Sex is a natural part of normal life and can be included in books as such, but when it comes to fantasy and science fiction, I think authors tend to overestimate how important those sexual urges are in the face of other extreme and extenuating circumstances. You have to factor in how much time is available, what the priorities are...I'm just not sure if that was well planned in Grant's story.

I believe sex is necessary because, it is part of human nature to feel the urge of wanting to have sex. it wasn't bad in the book, it wasn't out of content and all.

In my opinion, an author is trying to portray the natural feelings and urges the protagonist's experience through their journey. I won't say it's unnecessary but a vital nature of human instincts.

I found it distasteful. I can't understand how it was necessary for the story. Many times, at least for me, books lose their interest because of things like overly graphic sex, violence, and profanity thrown into it. Books can be excellent reads without it!

I agree with this point of view. As much as it may have shown the normalcy of a young man's virility, it needs not to be graphic. I think it somehow dampens the goodness of the story.

I definitely don't think it was necessary to that extent. It felt distracting to the main story, and none of the personal issues that would normally be connected to that were not addressed. There should have at least been some discussion of trust between Grant and Irina, not just the discovery of Irina kissing someone else.
