Favorite Character

I agree with your view. Kayala saw so much for her age and went through a lot.

Kalayla is also so smart for her age. It comes out, especially when she's replying to questions rather than speaking out her mind freely.

I like all three perspectives even thought I am not in their shoes I can still relate. I think the author did an excellent job with character development. Each woman served a purpose in the story.

My favorite is Kalayla. She has a good sense of humor and so mature for her age. She also has good growth throughout the book. It's always hard not to fall in love with the youngest, most charming character.

Yes, though distinctively, you'd have thought they wouldn't mix to make a good piece. Lena is from a high social status echoing from the Manzetti properties. On the other hand, Maureen and Kalayla have a different background. I believe their troubles make them uniform.

I find Kalayla to be selective and confident. Do you remember that moment when she insists to be told the type of cookies she is getting as pay for helping heave Lena’s luggage up the apartment? She also doesn't fall for any compliment or instruction. Sure, Kalayla is mature for her age. That makes reading the story riveting.

I think Kalayla was my favorite as well. Her attitude was sassy and funny, and just so authentically pre-teen. She was also such a good person, although she did her best to hide it sometimes.

Nicholas is so creative. Kalayla is one unique character who is always camouflaging to match her current situation. Her adventurous, ambitious and sometimes annoying character traits caught up with me. I have to admit there are times I got agitated by her moves, which she then covered up with irony that brought me back to a perfect smile. She's wonderfully showcased.

Kalayla and Opa were my favorite characters. By nursing Opa back to health, I think Kalayla was able to allow herself to heal from some of the hurts she had experienced in life.

Hands down, my favorite character was Kalayla. Of course, it had to be her. She was funny and entertaining, and she never knew when to keep quiet. She definitely increased my enjoyment of the book.

Kalayla is also my favourite character. Every scene she's featured is full of drama. I remember how she went silent on Lena for taking her to Rico. Then after uncle Clarence delivered the cookies she decided to go sell them to the same person she was mad at. Luckily, Lena was never holding grudges. But it's clear that Kalayla will always have something to say.

KALAYLA is my favorite. Her wittiness and humorous appeal catches your attention from the beginning. She is the heart of the story. Of course Lena and Maureen are both strong characters nurtured with both sense and depth ness, but Kalayla, considering her young age, is more outspoken and also sensible for her years. So for me, its kalayla

Lena shut herself away from others, until Kalayla unintentionally broke through her barriers.

Kalayla became my favorite after archiving the above subject. She changed Lena's life into something positive.
