Missing for two years? I'm happy the author's cat found his way back home. I can imagine the tearful reunion!

Wow a sad story I really hope that shadows make his way back home. Being a domestic animal it won't be easy for shadow to survive out there. Great book and a good review.

Finding your roots look refreshing and amazing. I hope Shadow finds his root and connect to his human family.

I can't say that I'm a cat person, but this seems like a great book for kids. I agree with you when you say that too many words on a page would be offputting/make the book more complex for the target audience. Thanks for the review.

This children's book seems to be a lovely book to those young readers who love cats. Shadow seems to be such a brave and curious cat! Congrats on BOTD to the author! Thanks for the review!

A children's book based on true events seems to have an underlying message.

Thank you for the great review.

Thank you for the wonderful review. We have a cat in our family too, or should I say the boss of the family! It would be very sad if she got lost, let alone for two years! I thought the pictures were cute. I just read the sample but would love to read the rest, so this book will be added to my list of books to read.

I also liked the drawings. They are colorful, indeed, to catch kids' attention, but not colorful in a way that hurts your eyes. And the cat is so cute. The drawing of the cat is identical to the picture of the cat in the first page.

Thanks for your review. This is an interesting story about a lost cat, especially when it's based on a real-life event. I hope Shadow will find his way back to his beloved family.

This sounds like a charming book for young readers! I love children's books that feature animals, and being that this story is based on the author's cat makes it that much more engaging. Great review!

This book is so good for my children. The cover is a homerun as well. The cat shows the urge to get out and a twinge of sadness by not being free to dash and catch some birds. Congrats to the author.

I am still wondering the kind of adventures experienced by Shadow after following the prey. This sounds like a fascinating book, and hence I am adding it to my want-to-read shelf. Thanks for the informative, incredible review.

I don't have any kids in my family at the moment, but this is something I may want to read to my kid in the future. I'm very curious about the author's cat that went missing for 2 years. I'm guessing they found it and I want to know how. Also, Shadow's story reminds of the movie "The Secret Life of Pets" which I really enjoyed.

Seems like a very interesting book for kids, a bit entertaining, a bit educational, a bit serious and lots of fun. Unfortunately, I am too old to read it and my own kids are also too grown up for it, but I will keep it in mind in case I would need such gift for someone. Congratulations with BOTD!
