I love a female character with a mind of her own! It is also nice to be wandering around outside right now (albeit vicariously), as that is not really possible where I am without risking frostbite. Add animals and magic and a strong sense of time and place, and it's a wonderful literary package.

I really enjoy the educational component that can be seen in the Totem, actually, throughout the whole Strong Heart. I wouldn't say it's the best ever way for children (school students) to gain explicit historical knowledge through the book, still, Totem is great for gaining initially interest in indigenous people culture and for developing a passion for nature in its untouched form.

This is one of the best things that fiction can do - introduce a new idea or world in a welcoming way, that piques the curiosity to learn more. Many lessons are only palatable when couched delicately in fiction.

I liked that there was a map at the beginning of the book, detailing bear valley. I have started reading the book and find it difficult to put it down! I am having some trouble with all the different characters, but that’s not enough to irritate me to put it down. I have not read the previous books, and I feel that I definitely should put the on my reading list! So far the book is a 4/4!

I find maps incredibly helpful when visualizing the setting of a trek or adventure. I also love maps in general, and can get very distracted studying them. This particular coast is one that I think will become of even more interest in the future, as its ancient history will become more and more a subject of discussion.

I admire the fact that this book can be a standalone novel and there’s a lot of suspense that made it hard to put it down. Each chapter left me wondering what would happen next with me a fantastic read for me it took me a little bit of time to get into the pit first few chapters that’s the only thing I would say I like the least because I moved on I enjoyed it because there was a lot of adventure and history to the book The writing style fit my needs as I love to read books that changed characters from chapter to chapter I would definitely recommend this as I thought it was an excellent read Lastly I’m totally impressed that I like it as much as I did because I did not read the two before this one

From the front cover, I could tell that it was going to be a very exciting book. I love the mystery and mythology incorporated in the story. The dialogue is also well written. Mystery keeps you turning the pages, craving to know what happens next. I would recommend it.

Charlie Sheldon's writing style and narrative pace was very appealing to me. There was so many suspense filled moments when they went to Bear Valley in search of answers. There was nothing I didn't like about this book. Sarah Cooley, a 14-year-old girl, was brilliantly portrayed. The author depicted her adolescent family struggles as well as her determination to preserve long-forgotten truths and traditions. I recommend this book to anyone interested in learning about a different culture, especially fans of mystery and adventure.

The book is interesting and intriguing enough to keep the reader engaged. Language of book is eloquent and fast paced, however there are too many characters and reader could struggle to remember them. The author has done a good job depicting the characters though especially Sarah main protagonist of the book had been portrayed as a blunt but sensitive teenage girl. The book will appeal to anyone who are fond of adventure and mystery. I will rate book as 3 out of 4 start for a nice theme, characterization and fast pace yet a bit difficult to keep track of all the characters. I really liked Laurie and his uncle track and was really intrigued to find out thr cause of death of elk.

I enjoyed reading this book a lot, especially the camping part where Sarah,Tom and Tom friends went to visit Tom grandpa’s grave and returning the artifact but Sarah’s vision part went on for too long and i enjoyed it less.

I honestly read a book by Charlie Sheldon and it was a historical fiction novel. I just don't like historical fiction. And that is also why I am not really a fan of this one either.

I’m just starting and Enjoying already , the fiction takes me in a journey to the past and old history that is mixed with myths which is very exciting and i’m looking forward to finish all the series which will take some time because the events and characters needs full attention but so far I can give 3 out of 4 .

I am nearly done reading Totem[i/] and thus far I have been enjoying the characters displayed. They feel like real people. The experiences of Sarah and several others were so cool. It feels like time traveling to another time period. I live for the people and their development and growth so I am not a big fan of the terrain in the woods in writing. In real life it's fantastic but it takes me a while to visualize where things are, based on what the author wrote. Some of the characters really resonate because they have to figure out whether they are in agreement with Buckhorn's intentions or if their values have to come first. (I'm trying not to give spoilers in case someone here hasn't read it yet). The point is, it is a very realistic and natural experience to read about with traces of fantastical ideas. It's really great. I will definitely update once I finish.

I rate Totem four out of four stars. I loved that the author mixed the pre-history myths in the story. The idea of what 'totem' is quite interesting. Actually, there was more than one main character in the story. Sara, the little one, is my favorite one. She is mature. The author's writing style is full of suspense and discovering mysteries. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fiction that includes myths.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. The ancestral memories mixed with the present-day events were compelling and addicting. I couldn't wait to find out how everything was connected and how the problem with the mining permit would work out. I was very surprised by the ending. It wrapped everything up nicely and didn't feel rushed.

I just started reading this book this month, and I am enjoying it so far. There were some serious subjects that were mentioned in the beginning, but they weren’t too graphic in detail. Some stories are slow with getting to the good parts, but this story isn’t wast any time with that.
