My Enemy in Vietnam is a good war history book. It described the Vietnamese war in detail and even included the racism that occurred then which was insightful. I liked the writing style of the author. His description of scenes in detail helped my imagination but I didn't like the lots of errors I encountered in the book. Lovers of history especially war history will enjoy reading this book.

I really liked this book, and as i was reading it, i kept silently thanking the author for sharing his very important story. I couldn't believe the amount of racism he faced - and from his fellow soldiers! I loved that it was written in the first-person narrative, it made it more personal. However, I didn't enjoy the errors as well as the unnecessary repetitions. I will definitely recommend it to my history loving friends so they can see another side to the Vietnam war no one talk about.

The book is a non fiction work of art and narrates author 's experiences as a black service man in the war of veitnam at a time when there was a movement going on for the rights of black people in the USA. The book is short and comprehensive with interesting illustrations to support the events in the book. The book will appeal to anyone who is fond of war stories and many people can relate to the author as rascism is an issue faced by human beings across the world. There are few gramatical mistakes here and there but it doesn't hinder with the experience of reading the book. The book is a good addition to the shelf of books written about the veitnam war from a different perspective.

This book is one of the millions of ways black people have found ways to celebrate their culture and history, but no less significant. Billy Springer celebrates his history as a black Green Beret during the Vietnamese War with brief narrations and graphic description, fully immersing me in the powerful moments that shaped his experience and inspired him to write this novel. I would give it a 3 out of 4 rating.

I feel like this book is one of those books that just...changes you. Even if if doesn't directly change your life, it'll surely change the way you think and the way you look at the world. One of the main things that's done really well is the way the author talks about racism. I would recommend this book to people who like books about wars but in general to everyone since it's such a significant book and important for people to read today.

The editing does a disservice to this book. Apart from that, I think this was a great read. Themes of war, racism, friendship, integration, and superiority kept me glued to this read.

I liked the aspect of racism portrayed in it and the addition of Martin Luthur king who is indeed a Hero. However, I didn't like the setting of the book. War is something scary and not everyone is used to it. Their wasn't much fighting but it still got chills through my gains. The book deserves a 2 out of 4 stars

I admire the author for writing such a wonderful story of a war experience. I am sure many people would relate to this, especially that in the present there is an ongoing war between the countries, U and R. Sharing his experience manifests how strong the character he is. I also saw Racism in the book as one of the main issues addressed. A memoir-like book would be a great read especially for those who love non-fiction works. I would rate this book a perfect 4 out of 4 stars.

The author did a good job on this book. Although it passed a very important message, this is not my usual kind of read so i did not like it very much.

I liked this book more because it exposes what the society did not, and still does not know about the in-fights and internal struggles of the American soldiers sent to the war. All the society understands is that the soldiers gave their best, but the book effectively describes what internal factors jeopardized the strength of the American soldiers at the war. I did not find anything uninteresting about this book, and would recommended it to those interested in historical understanding of the war; from within of course.

As someone who like non-ficiton genre, I definitely enjoyed reading this book as the author took us to what happened in Vietnamese war and how he dealt with racism he was faced with.

The book is fascinating as it recounts the author's personal experience in the Vietnam War. The author's experience of racism was an eye-opener to how I find it relates to even today. I recommend this novel to mature readers who enjoy war themes and sensitive non-fiction topics. I would be curious to have a conversation with the author about his experience back then and his views on current society. I would rate this novel 3 out of 4 stars only because grammatical errors don't do justice.

POETIC PACIFIC wrote: 01 Mar 2022, 11:58 This is the work of an insightful writer, by just reading the bulb, I seem to notice a sense of fear and suspicion that do engulfs us all when confronted with this aged old issue of racism. I mean we all feel that same way; one way or other, either you feel good about it or you feel bad about it, we all come from a human race, and you are not human if you are not racist. But this is not important, because we can overcome that; like Vietnamese befriending a black guy from the US as mentioned in the book or a Japanese fellow marrying an Arab etc.
But what is at stake here is one rather complicated and complex issue and that is mistrustfulness. Racism is like the cover one uses when he/she sees another person with different skin colour, but the real issue behind it is about having that mistrust. I think this is a must-read book for all of us because it has good lessons to learn from.
I never thought about it that way. I never thought that people are racist because we mistrust them. I always felt as if racism was about feeling better, more worth it, or more important than others. But that might not be the case.
Racism is not always equal to evil, even when we are led to believe that.

I did not like the book but is a personal preference as memoirs and books about war, are not often to my liking. My Enemy in Vietnam is a book about more than war, and I did like that, it teaches that we can open up and find friends in the least expected places, is also a book about hope, but overall is not my type of book.
