Slave trade's association with pirates wasn't something new for me, but the vivid involvement of family and relationships that the author brought in this pirate tale was very interesting. In my opinion, that is what sets this book apart from other books revolving around pirates.Sandeep Moses wrote: ↑01 Apr 2022, 23:09 What can you say about the uniqueness of "Brandy, Ballad of a Pirate Princess" from the other pirate stories?

I'm from an island so we have a rich history dealing with the sea. I live in a port town, so it was fun to see that portrayed in the book, and we have some pirate stories of our own. There are tales of a female pirate who was perhaps the most successful for the longest period of time in this area, so seeing that in Brandy's mom as well was a delightful experience. It has me curious to learn more about the lives of the pirates in my area, because this book really fleshes out their lives.

I agree! It makes me wonder how many women actually did have these experiences and what rich narratives must have been lost in history from them never being heard.barbiemaeferreira wrote: ↑15 Apr 2022, 21:23 What makes this masterpiece different is it empowers womanhood. Come to think of a girl who witnessed every turmoil in the sea. This is indeed a great work worthy of reading.
