I am a procrastinator, but I'm able to accept that part of myself. I can handle it and work with it.

Self-doubt, though? Forget it. This is the biggest, ugliest intruder for me.

Burnout is my biggest intruder. I could do anything on the daily but once I reach burnout, things are over for me until that burnout has also finished.

The impostor syndrome, Ndicka, is one of the Intruders greatest acts, indeed. I hope I made that clear in my book. Being a human being is being thrown to want to look good and get positive assessment, no matter who we are or what we do, Ndicka. It seems no one can escape that need. Yes, it shows up more in some folks than in others. And it shows up as "putting on an act" to cover up what we think is flawed about us. And furthermore, the more our unwanted mental house guest (our Intruder) convinces us that we are flawed, the more we get caught in those acts. It's wise to be aware of how often we feel compelled to pretend we are someone we're not, because that's when we begin to see the iron tight grip the Intruder can have on us. Seeing is the beginning of freeing oneself from this "other self" that has us feeling inferior. Thank you for sharing that :) rob

The most persistent intruders in my life have been procrastination and self-pity. I have this fear that starting something new will fail. I also have this notion that there is more than enough time, that I can do what needs to be done now and later, but this is not true. I've learned how to deal with them thanks to this book.

I think the intruder I relate to is discouragement. I always felt like I couldn't do it, and that even if I did, it wouldn't count.

My most intrusive intruder is procrastination. I have struggled with it all my life. I was lucky to stumble upon this book. The author has taught me how to deal with this issue and become the maestro of my own life.

One intruder I have really worked on is procrastination. I seem to still battle with the need for validation which I'm already working on.

Procrastination is an intruder that had made a home in my life many years ago. It has gotten so bad that I often look back at my life and think about all the time that I have wasted and all the things that I could have done. I even procrastinate small and quick tasks, like getting a document signed. At some point, I just accepted that that is who I am because I became so comfortable with it. Being able to identify it as an intruder has honestly help combat it. Procrastination is not a part of my identity; it is a bad habit that I picked up. And if I can pick it up, I can put it down!

Discouragement. This intruder seeps into the soul bringing out frustration and lack of trust in oneself. This is one intruder that I fight everytime by telling myself that I'm confident enough to do whatever I put my mind to.

I can relate to indecision and procrastination. Both are very dangerous to self-growth.

Procrastination seems to be more common than I thought. But, for me it's not procrastination. You can procrastinate sometimes. It's not bad. Take a break. Take your time, but get the job done. As for me, it's definitely the people around me. Judging and discouragement. Humans will find anything that they can nitpick on you. Even the way you breathe seems wrong to them. You just can't do anything about it. My advice is to hear in one ear and throw it away in another ear. It works for me, haha. Don't let them get you! You are enough and you matter.

The “control freak” is the Intruder that I have to deal with most of the time. And its cousins are “stubborn inflexibility” and “disillusionment.” When things do not go as planned, I either cling tightly to the plan or scrap it. I am a work in progress on creativity, resilience, and resourcefulness.
