There is absolutely zero reason for children to ever be drafted into war.
There are innumerable reasons why this is an atrocious premise.
They are not yet developed, they are too young to fully understand what is going on. They do not have the capacity to deal with that level of trauma or the lasting impact it will have on them for their entire lives. How can they ever expect to reintegrate into society or rebuild their lives later?

I would end it. Kids have no business fighting in wars. They are vulnerable and they are the exactly people who should be shielded.

I don't agree with the use of child soldiers during wars. I believe wars should not be started in the first place. It's a pity that children who don't know anything, end up bearing the brunt of war.

"If I had the power..." I'd have to be in government to have that power. And if I was in government, war would be a last resort, and hopefully, before it gets to point of needing to draft children, the war would be over. These are speculations, though.

I believe desperation is at the root of this kind of decision-making. In war, numbers matter, and where the numbers of adult men are not sufficient, mores are broken to recruit young children to fill the deficit. No, I wouldn't draft young children for war if in the position to do so. Rather, I'll adopt every possible measure to avoid war.

I see no reason at all for drafting children into the army. This has led to the destruction of many innocent lives. If I had the power I would stop it.

I find there is no reason for governments to mortgage the future by sabotaging the dreams of their young population. And this must end.

I do not think drafting kids for war is such a good idea. Drafting anyone for war is not, but a child's mind is more fragile and that child would have to live with unending trauma if he or she survives. I would certainly end it if I had the chance.

Their is completely no reason which can be given to include children in war. Actually, if it was not because of greed, selfishness, pride and unnecessary hatred between nations, tribes and people, no one would be in war with each other. Children are innocent. They are just pushed into what they even don’t understand, yet what they are going to do means their life.

This is one awful practice and most countries still do this. If I had the power, I'd end this because most of these children drafted for war actually didn't get to make a choice for themselves which is wrong. No reason whatsoever is justifiable for this act.

Personally, I live in a country where military service is mandatory at 18, and except for people with serious medical/mental conditions, everyone I know, including myself, gives 2-3 years of his life to the country. 18 year-olds are obviously not exactly children, but I think we can all agree it's still very young.

It may seem extreme to someone from the US for example, but sometimes there there is no better solution. Also, I do believe it's better to be a soldier before you have a spouse and children, I dont think it's fair to ask someone with a family depending on them to risk their life. That being said, there is a major difference between 13 and 18.

All in all, obviusly I wish we lived in a world where war in general is obsolete because no one ever should have to be drafted against his will, no matter someones age.

Of course, if I have power I'll have to do something. It's so sad seeing a young person with a bright future being offered as a sacrifice.

I feel like if it was a war that had the power to dramatically change the course of events of a country or entire population, then the government should take measures to draft able-bodied men to fight. But, by able-bodied I mean people that have at least a tiny chance of survival or making a difference, I don't feel like drafting kids, as in underaged minors or even 18 year olds that haven't yet seen life is a great choice, considering that such an event won't greatly increase the chances of winning the war.

Children should be allowed to be children. Not forced to fight and possibly die for the misunderstandings of several adults who, after the children have died, will settle the conflict and live in peace.

Drafting kids for war is a mother's worst nightmare. It's a trauma that they're too young and inexperienced to recover from.
