I have this problem every time I try to read in a moving vehicle. I recently read that you can get acupuncture bracelets which have a bead in them that gently presses into your wrist which is supposedly a pressure point and helps with nausea. I'm not sure if it helps with headaches though.

I also have that problem and it's really annoying.Sometimes I have tones of books to read and im stuck in the car for hours. I've tried different ways to stop the nausea and unfortunately none of it works. :?

I didn't use to have a problem reading in vehicles but for some odd reason I have a problem with it now in my mid 30s. I may have to check into those bands, thank you maddy2690. :)

Apart from Ginger which i've mentioned before( take a glass of iced ginger-lemon tea in a thermos )..

i've just heard of " green olives ".....rich in an active compound called Tannin, it helps to stave of motion sickness.

I get motion sick in a car just looking down at my phone for a few seconds to reply to a text. The only thing that has ever helped me was being done with the car ride lol

It happens to me too and not only with books but even playing on my phone! You could try taking a syrup made to prevent nausea but since you have to be in a car everyday I don't think it's the best choice to take medicine everyday

This happens for print reading for me more than ebooks.

I adjust my reading settings for cars/busses. Having too high of a contrast makes me dizzy. Some ereaders do not have the options of brightness adjustment, but I use my phone, which has colour too. Usually black backgrounds on grey text hurt less than white backgrounds and black text. But some days are just not good days to read and I do feel dizzy. However, I don't read in the car that much. I like to look at my surroundings, unless I'm on a bus.

Hey.
I don't get motion sick in the car but my sister does. She says that eating helps and so does chewing gum! She says it keeps her distracted and she doesn't even notice the motion then. I hope this helps. Cheers!

Because of my inability to read while riding in the car I have turned my attention to books on tape so that I can get the experience of the story without the headache of the action. Wishing there was a way to prevent the sick feeling and still be able to physically read the book.

Whenever I get motion sick I take a few minutes to close my eyes and relax, that usually helps. Also, audiobooks are a great alternative for those of us that get carsick easily.

I could never read in a car or bus. I get sick to my stomach and then get a headache. It is very annoying, wish I could. BTW my daughter has the same problem.

I get motion sickness even when I am not reading in a car. I read on a magazine in one of my flights that motion sickness happens when the inner ear senses motion but the eyes doesn't perceive or receive any movement at all. Whenever someone experiences motion sickness because of reading, that person should rest his eyes for a while. He should try to take a nap or look outside or in front of the car and see the movements around. It would also be great to take some medications before travelling. These are the tips I read from the magazine. I hope it would help someone. :D

I get serious motion sickness in cars. Usually within 2 minutes of trying to read. Not only that, but it takes forever to go away. Dramamine has been known to help. Others suggest audio books (especially if I'm the driver :) ) but there is something about having the actual book in my hands that adds to my reading experience.
