I would love to be able to read at night, but if I sit down to read after 8 pm, I usually start falling asleep right away. I'm finally done for the day, and I can't even enjoy it! Aarrrghh!

Since I have ADHD, just about any distraction can disrupt my reading and annoy me! However, I agree with most of the previous posts that the biggest offenders are phones ringing, my dogs barking, and my stepsons (especially when they are in their room screeching and making other annoying animal noises)!

The rest of the time, my inattentive brain is disrupting my reading. I know I am really enjoying a book when I am so interested that I am able to tune out all distractions to get through the book. I could never read in a public place like a train, so I guess it's a good thing that I live in the suburbs and don't have to use any mass transit systems!

My cat Jeter when he decides he wants to play, when he should clearly be able to tell that I'm busy reading. Usually I end up playing with him because he will get into trouble or bite me otherwise. I love him but I know he can play on his own too.

My children. I can sit in the room with them while they are playing and they ignore me completely, if I have a book in my hands for some reason all hell has to break loose! They can't find things that are in front of they're noses. They have the uncontrolled urge to kill one another, and or burn down the house!!!

I think it would be my wife. She doesn't like to see me sitting around.

My cell phone, because I hate ignoring people. It's worse if someone messages me through kik so that my phone vibrates and displays a solid red light beckoning me to answer just so the evil color will go away. This is the most common way that I am interrupted but I also hate when I'm reading in public and someone decides to start a conversation.

The TV. I need it to be quiet so that I can concentrate on the story!

Time............time gets away from me and then I realize I have to actually get other things done in the day besides reading. I'm always wanting "one more page".
