I try not to but have found if I get really into a book I'll do it without realising in my haste to see what happens next.

I don't remember ever cracking one apart from when they were second hand and so worn out by the time I got them there was no choice because just opening a page would do it

Not intentionally. I think I tend to bend some of my books back to far, which weakens the binding - thus, eventually cracking the spine.

I prefer to not crack the spine if i've just bought a brand new book but most of my older books aren't in the best condition because of how many times they've been read.

I don't like to crack the spines but I will admit that even I sometimes accidentally do it. But if I don't want the book messed up I won't loan it out, not that I do a lot of that anyways. None of my friends, including my husband, are big on reading.

No!!!! That drives me insane!! I hate lending books because every person I've ever loaned a book to would do this and I like my books in great condition.

No, don't worry. My sister is the same, whenever I borrow a book from my sister, I read it through a crack in the paper so I wont make the spine.

While I do try to be careful with my books, I know that because I like to reread my books, the spines will get cracked. The only thing I am really anal about is the jackets. I hate when people use them for a bookmark.
