Yes. I always take my Nook or a book to any doctor's appointments I have to go to. Especially if its for my husband and son and I know I wont have to take part in the actual appointment. Tons of downtime for me to enjoy chapters of my book.
All I need is a new book and a place to read it...

This contempt for anybody's time except, of course their own, seems to be a universal phenomenon amongst the medical professions. Isn't it extraordinary we make an appointment, arrive early to be sure of being on time & to get parked, then we wait, and wait, and wait. When we finally get to see this "awesome" personage do we make any comment on the waste of our time spent in his/her waiting room? Do we heck as like!
But if we make an appointment with the plumber and he arrives ten minutes late we act like the sky is about to fall in ... as suzy would say "go figure".
Next time I have to wait, when I'm called I'll say: "Sorry, but you are just going to have to wait 'till I finish this very, very important chapter"
We fade away, but vivid in our eyes
A world is born again that never dies.

When I was pregnant I always took a book with me to the Dr. It was just something about having a good book instead of small articles in a magazine.

I don't go anywhere without a book in my bag. I can't tell you how many times that doctor has been on time when I'm just opening it.

I have a Kindle app on my phone so I always have something to read. You never know when you will have a few extra minutes to read.

Yes! Until recently it was one of the few opportunities during the day when I could read in peace and quiet without being needed by a small child. It was like a mini vacation. Now my youngest has started school and I don't have to wait until bedtime to read.

I have done this twice, more specifically when I was younger and not allowed to enter certain areas off hospitals. Never during my own visits have I been able to read as my nerves got the better of me, but "Anne of Green Gables" and "Because of Winn Dixie" accompanied me while others suffered their appointments.
