I don't do it on purpose but they just tend to crack while I'm reading because I don't pay attention and I have no self restraint once I get into a book lol

I generally try not to crack the spines on my books, but sometimes it just gets annoying to try and keep my book open so I end up cracking it. It's easier to keep it open when I do. If someone lends me a book that had not been cracked then I won't crack it for the fact it's not my book. I respect other people's books.

No. Never. I have gone and bought new copies of books that have been lent out to someone else and have come back with a cracked spine, dog-eared, or any blemishes. It is a bit silly, but I really cannot handle any damage to my books. I have since limited my lending to people that I know will not harm my books.

Spine breaking is a sin, and should never be done. I have gone to extremes in order to avoid cracking the spine on some books, even if it meant I only opened them three quarters to read them. If a book is poorly made and does crack, I will try to replace it, if possible. Books are treasures, and should be treated with the utmost care and respect :D

Most of the books i get are second hand so the spine is already loose but i wouldn't really try to crack it on purpose

Not intentionally. I actually try not to 'crack the spine', but sometimes, when I'm reading while snacking and drinking coffee, it happens before I realize it. Usually, I'm near the end so I just berate myself, then soon return it to the shelf to heal...

I try my best not too but I don't mind as long as it's not too bad.

Oh my. Hopefully I won't be gutted for this, but:

I always crack the spine. Always. If i don't crack it, it makes me feel like my books aren't loved enough.

I like my books in great condition. There are some books I buy used with cracked spines but I'm okay with that. I don't get angry or anything

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with this problem, haha! I don't crack the spines on my books, and I get upset if it accidentally happens!! A lot of my paperbacks look like they've never even been read because I'm so anal about it. I also get a little anxiety thinking about lending my books to anyone for fear of them damaging them in any way. My dad always makes fun of me about it. :P

No! I'm pretty protective about my books, but I think part of that stems from being a teacher and knowing the books need to last a long time.

I would not do that with borrowed books, but I love doing it to my books. Hm... the sentence sounds weird
