Do you reread books? (Jul '24)

Post by Heidi M Simone »

Do you ever reread books? Why do you or why don't you? If you do reread books, which one(s) have you reread? What genre does this book fall under?

I am very curious to know which book(s) you have reread! There are some that I have reread in the past, so I definitely don't mind rereading certain ones.

I don't remember ever rereading a book. Why? I don't know. I rewatch movies, so why not reread books. I think it's because there are so many books out there that I haven't read yet, I'd rather read those first.

I can completely understand that! Plus, I feel like movies are less of a "time commitment" than books. A movie can be a couple of hours, but books take up to several hours to read.

I've reread certain books. Mostly, Harry Potter. This series will always hold a special place in my heart since it is what began my love for reading. There is a young adult series I've also reread. I believe I was in book slump at the time of rereading it, and I needed something I know I liked, which did get me out of the book slump!

@Heidi M Simone I reread books all the time, especially my favorites. One of my favorite rereads is the classic Jane Austen novel, 'Pride and Prejudice'.

It's actually quite interesting, I have never read Pride and Prejudice, though I have heard some good things about it. Do you feel this is a good first Jane Austen book to read?

@Heidi M Simone If you have time to read only one Austen, I'd say read Pride and Prejudice. It's classic Jane Austen, and you'd be comfortable in most Austen discussions if you've read this one, as no Austen discussion is complete without it. It has also been widely adapted for TV shows and movies, so that's another quick way for you to decide if you like her work. Hope this helps.

I am not a fan of actively rereading books but occasionally when I cannot find anything better to do I reread my favourite books for example the book that I reread most recently was the fault in our stars by John Green such an amazing book it really deserves a reread.

I don't usually prefer rereading the books. Except for some non-fiction/self-help books that are my favorite.

I like to reread some of my favorite books. Sometimes it's fun to go back and reread a book once I know what happens, because then I'll pick up on clues that I didn't realize before. The Harry Potter series is what I've reread the most. I feel like I still pick up on something new every time I read it. But this is a really good series to reread because there's a lot of foreshadowing that you don't realize at first or forget about.

I prefer to read new books than reread. Many years ago I used to reread the ones I most liked, but we all change.
