Depends on the kind of series. Some series can be read apart. (like the Alan Bradley series with Flavia de Luce which I'm reading now). So, if the book I want isn't available, and you can read them in a different order, I will read one out of sequence.

Wouldn't you rather wait for the book you want?

Oh yes, most definitely. If I read them out of order it would mess up the whole thing.Doesn't matter if I have already read the series or not.I have to start with the first book.

That would ruin the whole book for me if I read it out of order. What's the point of reading if you already know what's gonna happen! Crazy!

Do you absolutely have to read your books in chronological order?
I couldn't agree with you more! I only have a select few series I stick to for this reason. For example, The Forgotten Realms series of Drizzt Do-Urden. There are over twenty books in that series now and still growing. Some aren't even that relevant to the character of Drizzt, but I HAVE to read them all in order. I'm only at book sixteen at the moment but it's taken me years to get there with my ever expanding to-read list.

Most definitely, I mean it is written in that order for a reason I try so hard not to spoil myself for a book and always in order otherwise its just plain confusing most of the time

I have to read books in order!!! I am happy to be using goodreads- because when I find a book I'm interested in, I check it on there and they usually indicate whether it is part of a series and which number in the series it is. No more starting a book in the middle of something to be disappointed later!

Yes! I agree with you on getting confused when reading books out of order. I can always tell if I have missed a book in a series when the characters are doing different things than expected. I don't like being confused or wondering what I've missed when I am reading. Same thing with TV.

Yes, I have to read them in chronological order because otherwise I miss things, don't understand things, and it's just something that I do. The only series that I didn’t read in chronological order is Percy Jackson and The Olympians. I skipped the first book because I watched the movie and then read the next four books in order. Later, I went back to read the first book and realised that the movie was missing a lot and that it’s definitely better to read the books but other than that, I always read books in chronological order.
My weekend is all booked!

I am totally obsessive about reading a series in order. When I first hear of a good series I perform a google search to get the chronological order and go from there. No way could I read them out of order.
