A young cow named Mabel was too excited about meeting the Lord of our Creation (Jesus) to sit still as her mother told her. As Jesus lays in His manger sleeping, Mabel moos and wakes Him up. Many came to give Jesus gifts, including shepherds who held their sheep and the three wise men who brought frankincense, myrrh, and gold. Mabel wonders what a cow can give Jesus. After Jesus touches her chin with His tiny hand, Mabel knows the answer and wants to spread the word to the other animals. What can Mabel and other animals gift Jesus with?

Faith E. Richardson did an excellent job telling this story and demonstrating the power you can receive from the Holy Spirit, as depicted by Act 1:8 of the Bible. Heather Rose did an excellent job of providing illustrations that corresponded with the rhyming narrative on each page. These illustrations showed the many types of animals that would benefit from learning what Jesus’s touch revealed to her.

The author wrote “wise men” as one word, “wisemen,” which may appear to some readers as an error, but this is a stylistic choice of writing compound words, not an objective grammatical error. Although I did not consider this a negative aspect, parents may want to explain to their children who are learning to spell that this is not a common spelling, but it is still correct.

I did not encounter any negative aspects in this book, as the storyline flows smoothly, the illustrations are beautiful, and the editing has been exceptionally done, resulting in a flawless children’s book that they will enjoy reading or having read to them. This excellent children’s book deserves nothing less than 5 out of 5 stars.

The Cow Spoke and Jesus Woke by Faith E. Richardson is the perfect book for a Christmas gift to young Christian children who are only thinking about Santa Claus and the toys he brings. The book is best suited for Christians who believe in God and the birth of his son, Jesus. Parents, grandparents, and others will enjoy reading this book to young children who cannot read it while they enjoy the pictures. Busy readers will appreciate the short time it takes to read this book while they juggle their busy schedules.

That's neat how the author could get a Christmas story from an animal's point of view. We always hear these from the angle of a human, so a change of perspective is nice. Great job on your review!
