Forever. If I could stop the rest of life happening around me, I could physically stay still for months reading. The longer you sit reading, the more captivated you become with the story.

I can read for hours when I have a great book in my hand and have the free time.

Ohh...good question. I could definitely read for a good 8/9 hours without stopping if it's one of those captivating books ...but I'd say around 3 hours in between my daily routine :)

Depending on the difficulty of the book, I can usually read for a couple of hours without taking a break. For example, when I read Anna Karenina, I could only handle about 30-60 minutes at a time before I had to use time to recover. However, when I was reading the Harry Potter books (or another YA novel), I could read for well over two hours and, many times, finished a book in one sitting.

I can read for hours as long as the story is engaging. If I like the story, I can go all night until my eyes start burning, which happens sooner than later the older I get. The story must be interesting, though. If not, I usually cannot go more than 30 minutes to an hour, sometimes less.

In high school I used to read romance novels, those that got my attention took between 3-4hours. Depends whether the book gets my attention or not.

It varies on how riveting the book is and how much time I can spend on reading! When the True Blood series of books came out, I don't think I slept much in weeks - could not put them down and read one after the other! Generally I like to read in bed before going to sleep, so probably about 10 - 15 minutes and I'm gone! However during the daytime, I could probably stretch my reading to an hour.

I can read for hours together, if the story is captivating. Even otherwise, I could read for an hour and half at a stretch.

Depends on the type of book and how much spare time I have. I normally just get in a bit of reading whenever I can, like on the commute into work or on my lunch break. And I'm normally so tired in the evenings that I'd be lucky to spend an hour reading before falling asleep. But when I do have the time I can read all day long (tea/coffee breaks permitted).

I've done as much. Mostly so I can get through the reading of it, normally a classic that is well known, to get it under my belt, so to speak. I find sci-fi to be the hardest genre for me, so I keep from them like the plague.

When I was younger I would read for hours and hours with breaks only for mother nature or I finished the book. As I got into my detailed subjects in college reading for pleasure got put by the wayside. Just no time. Now if I have a book that is so good I don't want to put it down I'll rearrange my schedule as much as I can so I can read it, but having said that..there is a book I'm reading now that while it's very good and I want to devour it, but I am purposely savoring it because I like how it makes me feel. Is that strange or what? If you're interested the book is called Written in My Own Heart's Blood by Diana Gabaldon.

A lot of times i start reading when the kids go to bed. There are many nights that i start around 9:30 and before I know it, it is almost midnight. So, a good two to three hours. However, during the day, i read in between activities so usually 10 minutes here and ten minutes there, etc.

I have never really tried to see how long I can sit and read. I do know that I have sat for at least 5 hours reading before. Reading runs in my family so maybe that is why I can sit that long reading a book.
