It depends on the story. If I hated it I will think thank God it's just a library book and I didn't pay for it. But if I loved it then I can't settle for just borrowing it.

Lot of truth there!!!
Maria saw her first dragon while gardening. The gnome tried to take pictures, but dragons are very fast. The fairy finally snapped a shot, but the dragon came by and flamed it to ashes! No one wants to get burned so, sadly, there will not be pictures!

I prefer owning.
But maybe if our library had good English books in it I might prefer there too. (there are actually lots of Turkish books and I want to focus more on reading English to improve myself)

I have to own my books - It's a thing for me. Having a collection of amazing pieces of work and design that I picked out myself and loved. If I ever feel the need to dive right back into a world, I can grab it off my shelf and go. <3

I read at least two or three books a week, occasionally more. If I were to buy every single book I read, I wouldn't have money or room in my house for the other things I like to do. The books I buy are the ones I know I want to read again or the ones I want others to read. Otherwise I borrow library books.

I do both. Especially since I just don't have money to throw at buying books like I used to. So I usually use the library to complete a series or read books I know I won't be buying or wanting to own.

I prefer owning my books. I used to have a library card but I never really used it, mostly because I feel very rushed to read the books before the due date. When I own my books I feel I have more time to read them comfortably.

It would be wonderful to just own books, but unfortunately I don't have the money to buy them all and must use the library/swap them. I do buy and keep ones I believe are really great though!

Library. It's not worth it unless it's Ted Chiang.

I always use the library. I used to own a lot of books, but I was moving a lot and the books were very heavy for everyone who had to carry them. My husband doesn't read books, so he didn't like to cart them around. I would be lost without the library.

i love to own them, but i'm poor and all of my bookcases, and my bedroom floor, are full. i don't go the library that much, but i always borrow 4-8 books when i do and just keep renewing them so i'm not under pressure. i wish i could buy but unfortunately it's just not possible. i hate recommending a book but not being able to lend it out to someone

I like to own books and have a lot of books here at home. But I do check books out from the library too. I have checked books out from the library where I do student work and I want to work in a library so I don't have a problem with checking books out and not actually owning them. Although, I do like to purchase books too then I have them if I wanted to read them again.

In a perfect world I would own all the books I've ever read, and would buy any new ones that I wanted to read. However, considering the amount that I read and my tiny apartment, this just isn't logical. I own a ridiculous amount of books, but most of mine come from the library. It also doesn't hurt that I work in a library and get first dibs on new books. :)
