Fairy tales are one of my favorite stories to read. They fascinate me for some reason and hold my interest more than other stories. I love all the variations to the tales and various authors adaptations. It's hard for me to choose between the Brothers Grimm and Hans. Both have written some of my favorites and both have also written a few that I didn't really like (mostly because I saw Disney or some other movie version that had a happy ending verses the more serious ending of the original tale. Example - The Little Mermaid by Hans.) They are both good writers and for fairy-tale lovers like myself it is good to read both.

I find it incredibly difficult to decide. If I absolutely had to choose, however, I would probably side with the Brothers Grimm. I enjoy Andersen's stories as they do leave a very lasting impression in terms of being darker (The Little Mermaid comes to mind). I also think they are more easily adaptable (look at the Walt Disney classics). However, the Brothers Grimm's stories always stuck with me. They seemed to have a few more morals (or maybe I just read too much into them), at least in my opinion. I also seem to remember the writing style a little bit more than I do with Andersen's stories. Either way I will pick both up at random and just dive in - it's impossible not to!

I like BOTH of them :) but then, if i had to choose, then i'll choose Brothers Grimm. I usually read fairy tales that have "tragic" parts on it, because i'm getting tired of fairy tales with happy ending. So, i think that's why i liked Brothers Grimm more :) but H.C Andersen's stories are good too, i used to read them as a child.

My favourite Hans Christian Andersen Fairy tales are:
The Little Mermaid
The Ugly Duckling and the Match Girl
My favourite fairy tales by the Grimm Brothers are:
Cinderella
Hansel and Gretel
The frog prince
Rapunzel
Rumbelstitskin and sleeping beauty
So I guess you could say that I like the Grimm brothers more....
I just loved fairytales when I was a kid and I had read everything I could get my hands on. I used to read the fairy tales that the neighbor kids had too...

I can't really decide because I grew up reading books written by both of them. I think they are both wonderful authors and I enjoy reading their books.

It's hard to select from the two and so I would just say both. Hans Christian Anderson and the Brothers Grimm both write and narrate fairy tales. I did enjoy reading them when I was a growing child.
