Re: Reading over sleeping

Post by bluemel4 »

If I could read instead of sleep I would. I just seem to get so sleepy at night trying to read until the lines are blurry. My Husband has found me more than once curled up in bed with a book in my hands fast asleep. He always laughs and wakes me up so I don't lose my page. :P

I do read instead of taking naps during the day no matter how tired I am. But that leads to a completely irrational take on what I have read and I am more likely to again fall asleep with the book in my hand. Usually when my husband finds me this way during the day he will go up to me and ask if I was sleeping to which I always reply "No absolutely not! can't you see that I am reading?" He just walks away laughing.

Nope, I would rather sleep. Sleep is awesome.

I've done this countless times, starting as a kid with a flash light under the covers. I've even stayed up so late one time that I just stayed up and got ready for work (not my best decision). Sometimes you just can't put it down! Like some of the other people that have posted I like being alone to read and nothing is quieter than a house where everyone is sleeping. You can really get into the book that way. Whenever I had to stay up to study and cram in college, I always fell asleep at some point. Never happens with books I actually enjoy reading; I'm wide awake.

I work at night and sleep during the day. Unfortunately, this does not make for the best time to sleep. Today I woke up at 4 hours thinking I slept much longer. I was about to go to sleep but decided to read instead. Oh well, it will just make for a long night.

I love reading especially at night! I love it when a good book gets my attention and the time just flies by all of a sudden. True, the next morning I might be exhausted, but totally worth it!

I agree, I only do it on weekends as well or on days I don't have college classes. I only stay up late reading thought when I am close to finishing a book because I really need my sleep.

I would read over sleeping any day of the week even though they are my two favorite things to do. I have done it a thousand times. I always stay up at night to read a book which is one of the reasons why i'm always dosing off at school. :)

More times than I care to admit. I've had quite a few work days where I could barely keep my eyes. I now have an alarm set, when it goes off I have to stop reading.

Many, many times I have stayed up to read. I have tried to read just a couple chapters to get a feel for a book before I went to bed to then end up staying up all night to read it.

I do it all the time, telling myself I will only read for 10 more minutes and the next thing I know it is 1am. I also love getting up early to read, mainly because it is so peacful

All the time. I tell myself that I will only read one more chapter and the next time I look at the clock it is 3 am. Oops. :)

Yes, I do it every time I have summer and winter breaks. If the book is really good I would stay up all night reading it even if I have college in the morning. I finish all my English class assigned novels this way.

Being an only child my one escape from reality and into imaginary world was through books. When you don't have a sibling to play with 24/7 immersing yourself into your books world is the next best thing. I remember many nights staying up all night reading. I remember getting the Harry Potter books when first released and my mother knew not to bother me till I finished as she would get no sense out of me. I am still the same way at 22. Getting way to involved in my books.

Absolutely! I've done it since I was a kid. There just isn't enough hours in a day :geek:
