Have you read a classic recently?

Not for a few months, which is unusual for me. I have quite a few on my TBR list - some I've never read, some I want to reread. I try to read a couple of Dickens' novels each year. I've read them all already, but I never get tired of his writing; he's one of my favorites. When I settle in with Dickens it feels like a comfortable visit with old friends. I want to read more from Austen, London, and Steinbeck too.

Unfortunately, I have not. I have a few on my TBR and and another few to fulfill my reading challenge this year.

So far this year I have read The Hobbit, Old Yeller, Anthem, The Handmaids Tale, The Incredible Journey, Slaughterhouse-five, The Little Prince and Alice in Wonderland. Currently I am working on The fellowship of the rings and a tale of two cities.

I didn't read, but I watched huckleberry Finn the other day with my siblings. Trying to get them acquainted with the classical movies. Elijah wood was so cute when he was small.

We also watched the sound of music. What next.

I mainly read classic literature

Most of the novels i read are written between 1700 and 1900.

The last classic novel i read was Emma by Jane Austen

Not literature, but I just finished Nietzsche's Beyond Good and Evil a few days ago. Read Plato's Republic back in the spring... I guess those count as classics.

Started "Up the Down Staircase' last night by Bel Kaufman. ...Read it many years ago as an early teen. Any older folks remember this book and film?

My favorite thing about home schooling my children is the ability to walk through the classics with them. Their 5th grade year that just wrapped up included Call of the Wild, Red Badge of Courage, Hobbit, Anne of Green Gables, and Adventures of Tom Sawyer.

I already can't wait for next year in this regard!!!

I read A Tale of Two Cities this past December. I actually hate Dickens with a passion, but the story was good.

I've got plans to read Wuthering Heights later this year.
