Nice review. This book was brought to my attention because it’s todays #BOTD it’s free on Amazon and as I rely on reviews often to give me a sense of a book, I read several reviews in addition to this one. I keep coming across the same themes as you mentioned. Character-driven, flawed characters that you still want to root for, humorous, heartwarming, emotional, and hard to put down. Im still a little on the fence about this one, it’s very long. Thanks so much for sharing.

Nice review, would love to read this book. The way author defined the characters and then bring them together sharing the same problem is interesting.

Nice review! It captured my attention and made me want to find out more about these characters. I’m particularly intrigued about the sword swallower. I can’t imagine the training involved in that! I’ll add this to my list of books to read.

I like books that you really get to know the characters. Learning their motives and watching them change and grow throughout the book, whether it be positive or negative, is also a learning experience for the reader. I'm looking forward to reading today's #BOTD!

An alcoholic's life goes spiralling downwards till he meets the sword swallower who also had a volatile past. The section wise read helps to get to know the characters. Thanks for the review.

I'm already halfway through this book, and I love it. It really pulls you in and makes you not want to put it down!

This is a very easy story to follow, two fellows that meet and have the same addiction that brings them troubles. Still, it makes me wonder what will happen with them at the end. Will they overcome their addiction? I'm intrigued enough to put it in my 'to read' list. Thanks for sharing your insights !

Duke Reynolds lives for the rush and the adrenaline whenever he performs at the circus or out in the streets. He is especially known for his sword-swallowing skills, but is able to do other performances like fire-breathing or acting as a human blockhead. However, his severe alcohol addiction often gets him into trouble and even lands him in jail.

I laud Duke Reynolds for his weird skills, and the author for masterfully crafting his character's strength and weakness. Thanks for the detailed review.

I cautiously admit that circus and street performers have always scared me (not necessarily clowns). I don't think this will be a read for me

Since I speak Spanish I was not captured by the “Chico Kid” part of the title. (As both words mean the same thing), Nevetheless, after reading your review I’m willing to give this book a try. Thanks for the review!

This doesn't sound like my type of book, but I appreciate the hard work the author did to make it memorable for the readers.

It's interesting that fate brings these two unrelated characters together and they end up maintaining a meaningful relationship. This aspect is one I'm looking forward to reading about.
