Review of Traveler
Traveler & Other Poems is a poetic collection by Karl W. Carter that collects poems of profound inspiration and originality. The book is divided into two parts, the first of which is dedicated to love poems, and the second refers to African Americans, including poems inspired by the author's past or by illustrious figures such as Prince and Leroi James/Amiri Baraka. The poems are written in straightforward language, and their meaning is immediately clear.
I was positively impressed by this book and loved reading it. Carter is a poet who knows how to use words to transmit his message to readers. In particular, in the love poems of the first part, his feelings are told in such a precise way that you have the impression of looking inside his soul. As for the poems in the second part, I liked how they dealt with the themes and their variety.
I only found positive sides in this book, so I have no negative side to mention. I believe that it can be appreciated by romantic readers and by those interested in social issues and that everyone will find the two sections of the book equally inspiring and profound. It is rare to find such well-written poetic texts, so I am sure all those who read Traveler & Other Poems will appreciate it as it deserves and greatly admire its author.
As far as the typographical errors are concerned, I found some, but overall, the book is well-edited, and the reading is smooth.
I am happy to rate this book 5 out of 5 stars for all its exceptional qualities, and I recommend it to all those passionate about poetry. I am sure that lovers of the genre will be thrilled with it and that they will also look for other books written by this extraordinary author.
