Review of Waffling Bride
Waffling Bride by L.B. Brookes is a romance thriller revolving around a family curse and an investigation of an underground movement by the Copperhead organization known as the Sons of Liberty. Allison had hidden from William for three years before he found her and discovered he had a daughter named Sara. After forcing Allison to marry him, William wanted nothing more than to raise their daughter with the woman he loved and protect them. However, Allison's fear of her family's curse makes her hesitant, even though she loves William. Although, as owner and CEO of Guardians, Inc., William and those around him live in constant danger, he vows to protect his family. What is the family curse that Allison is so afraid of? What is the connection between the Sons of Liberty investigation and William's family's safety?
The author has done an excellent job keeping the suspense flowing throughout this book as it moves through the romance and thriller genres with fully developed characters with unique traits such as telepathic, healing, telekinesis, and dream-link skills, to name a few. The storylines between the romances, terrorists, and the FBI flowed smoothly throughout the book. I could easily relate to one of the characters using busy work as an avoidance tool. One of my favorite concepts in this storyline was "calling a place home is more than just giving walls to a house." I found the history behind the Copperheads and their use of a copper penny interesting. Although this is the second book in the series about Guardians, Inc., there were adequate references to the characters' pasts, and I did not feel I was missing anything.
This professionally edited book deserves a perfect 5 out of 5 stars because it contains minimal errors, has no negative aspects to distract from my reading enjoyment, and has many positive aspects, as discussed above. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
Readers who enjoy romance thrillers with terrorist and investigative aspects are the ones I recommend this book to. Sensitive readers may be offended by the non-borderline profanity and the sexual content.
