B is for Barbecue by Henrique Meyer is a very short and simple book (as it should be since it is aimed at children) that will entertain your little ones with cute images and clever little poems that will also enrich the kids’ brains and learning skills!

As an adult, I can say that I enjoyed the book from a literary perspective. Henrique Meyer is a very talented writer, and I say this as a literature student who knows how difficult it is to write a poem, much less one for each letter of the alphabet and with the restriction of them having to be barbecue-related. The author accomplishes this in a spectacular way. He is able to maintain the same rhythm and pace throughout all the poems, which is not an easy task.

I also feel this is a very family-oriented book. While reading it, I was thinking about the many ways in which the book can be used to unite families through the awesome act of reading. For example, parents can read one page each night to their children before going to bed, which will increase the kids’ interest in literature and also strengthen the bond between the parents and their children by spending time together.

Another use for the book could be making a fun game for the family by doing each Sunday or every other Sunday a recipe related to each page of the book. This is something the kids will look forward to because kids love barbecues, so this is another effective way to bond with your kids while everyone is having fun. For some of the days, you could even invite your extended family or friends and improve your kids’ social skills.

I’m giving the book 5 out of 5 stars. I think the book accomplishes exactly what it set out to do; it is well edited, as I didn’t find any errors, and through a simple formula, it can offer a variety of things for families to enjoy. I recommend the book for everyone with kids, especially if you are struggling to find something meaningful to do with your kids.

A creative concept like this—blending poetry, learning, and family bonding—sounds like a great way to make reading fun for kids. The idea of turning it into a family activity, like cooking together, makes it even more special. I don’t usually go for children’s books, but I can see how this one could be a hit for parents looking to create meaningful moments with their little ones.
